function_exists('wpfp_link') returns false

I have installed and activated the plugin,
yet when I call function_exists(‘wpfp_link’) it returns false, it’s no use just calling wpfp_link( ) either. Somehow I’m not getting a php error or any error for that matter, so I’m kind of stuck. Do you have any idea what it could be?
