• Dear Thomas,
    Greatly appreciate your plugin!
The issue I have is with Google Ads (GA) not showing enhanced conversions.

I am afraid GA is not getting all the info it needs for bidding and optimizing.

It is measuring sales/conversions correctly, but in ‘Enhanced conversions -beta’ screen in GA, It always says it is not receiving Enhanced conversions.
I followed your steps, and backtraced myself a couple of times. I read the GA a lot of times, but nothing about this issue came up.

I created the GA tag in Google Tagmanager, as per instructions when creating a conversion in Tools&Settings > Conversion > Add Conversion etc.

-Conversion Linker is firering on all pages, not an issue, I checked.

So. Within Tagmanager, should I link the ‘Google Ads Conversion Tracking’ tag to the trigger ‘Event – Ecommerce Events GA4’ as I created from your instructions?

For now I have 3 conversion measurements in Google Ads:
1 the ‘Google Ads Conversion Tracking’ event+trigger
2 The imported Google Analytics UA conversion
3 The imported from GA UA smart goal for ‘engagement’

In GA all information is displayed correctly, all figures, all product sku and names. That works great.

But isn’t one conversion tag for e-commerce transactions in GA better? GA sees the different tags correctly, and I can create reports per conversion tag, but doesnt it screw op metrics for bidding because GA is combining these tags and thinks it is doing 3x better then reality?

Hope you can give some insight on this issue! thanks

  • Did you ever get clarity on this? I’ve run into basically the same questions. The auto added “[site-name] – GA4(web)” purchase goal in the Google Ads conversions window doesn’t give you a “Tag setup” tab, therefore no Conversion ID and Conversion label, which means you can’t link it to a “Google Ads Conversion Tracking” tag in Google Tag Manager.
I’m assuming that GAds isn’t doubling up on the data but I don’t know that. Google ads didn’t see ANYTHING on the auto added conversion goal (looking under Audience/Your Data Sources) until I set up the Google Ads Conversion Tracking tag and set up a Conversion Linker. And even still the numbers don’t match what Analytics is telling me so I have no idea what that metric is looking at.

I can’t really understand why we can’t use the auto added goal for GAds

So. Within Tagmanager, should I link the ‘Google Ads Conversion Tracking’ tag to the trigger ‘Event – Ecommerce Events GA4’ as I created from your instructions?

I ended up creating a new trigger called “Purchase” with event name “purchase” and linked my Google Ads Conversion Tracking tag to it. I’m not sure if I set it up correctly or not but that’s what the instructions seemed to indicate.
