    Hi

I’m trying to create a new Google Analytics 4 property but when I installed Site Kit and try to connect the account, this message appears:

    Place Universal Analytics code:

A tag UA-63******28-1 for the selected property already exists on the site.

Make sure you remove it if you want to place the same UA tag via Site Kit, otherwise they will be duplicated.

I have tried to search through my site for another plugin that might install an existing tag, and the Code Snippets, but does not seem to be there.

Can any support professional help to take a look please?

    Thank you!

    Hi @vxotic,

Thanks for reaching out. I’ve tried to check your site at present although it seems down at present, meaning I’m unable to check for non Site Kit placed Analytics tags.

Regardless of me checking your site you can still connect Site Kit if you wish, and not allow the plugin to insert a Universal Type (UA) analytics snippet (as one already exists). For the Google Analytics 4 (GA4) snippet, you can still allow Site Kit to create one for you, and allow the plugin to insert this GA4 snippet. That way you’ll have both a UA and a GA4 snippet working as expected on your site, with only the GA4 snippet placed via Site Kit. Here’s an example of how this configuration would look.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. I’m also happy to check your site for any other possible methods of placing an Analytics snippet if you’d like to share your Site Health information and inform me once your site is live once more.

    Hi @vxotic,

I’m just following up with you to check whether you have any questions with the above? I’ve also just checked your site now, both manually and having used the tagassistant.google.com service. It looks like your site is tracking fine now with a Site Kit placed snippet.

Do let me know if you have any further queries on this. Thank you.

    Hi James

Sorry for not updating and thank you for following up. I have asked a programmer to help me remove the extra UA code, and started a new GA4 code. I hope he had installed it correctly?

No problem @vxotic, appreciate the follow up. To answer your question yes, all looks good with your current set up. You’re not using Site Kit to track both your UA and GA4 properties, and only a single snippet appears for each.

I’ll close this support topic however do let me know if you have any further queries on this.
