    Hello,

my nextgen gallery worked fine several months until suddenly (maybe after an update?) it displayed wrong:

    http://www.campingplatz-landkern.de/campingplatz/

There should be only 8 (2×4) thumbnails but it shows an empty frame for every picture that exists in the gallery. Have you got any idea how to fix it?

    Best regards

Hello @chelai – sometimes updates for your theme, plugins, or sometimes even WordPress can cause things to change and conflict. Would you mind, confirming for us that error persists after:

    – Temporarily switching to WordPress default theme > clear browser cache & reload your site
    – Deactivate all plugins (including NextGEN Gallery) > clear browser cache > re-activate NextGEN Gallery only & reload your site

Do any of those action steps help? I know this can be a big inconvenience, we’re very sorry – but since this is not happening for everyone, this does help tell us if there is a plugin/theme conflict.

    Hi Becky,

thank you for your message! I tried everything you said:
I turned off the theme and activated the wordpress twenty sixteen theme, I deactivated the plugins, cleared the browser cache (no cache-plugin installed), activated only the nextgen plugin. I also disabled the edited style.css. But the problem persisted.

@chelai – You appear to be using the NextGEN Legacy “captions” template and the “Add hidden images” option for NextGEN Basic Thumbnails (at least for that display). I would suggest either changing to the default (read: blank) template; or, turning off the “Add hidden images” option. This should correct the “empty frames” you are seeing.

    Thanks!

    Hello Cais,

thank you for your message! I tried both. Turning the settings to “default” and disabling “add hidden images”. The “empty frames” still stay. The strange thing is, it worked for several months but suddenly the frames appeared. I haven’t changed anything but the updates of the page.

Here are the settings for the gallery:
    [ngg_images source=”galleries” container_ids=”1″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails” override_thumbnail_settings=”0″ thumbnail_width=”240″ thumbnail_height=”160″ thumbnail_crop=”1″ images_per_page=”8″ number_of_columns=”4″ ajax_pagination=”0″ show_all_in_lightbox=”0″ use_imagebrowser_effect=”0″ show_slideshow_link=”0″ slideshow_link_text=”[Zeige eine Slideshow]” template=”/var/www/vhosts/campingplatz-landkern.de/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/gallery-caption.php” ID=”1207″ order_by=”filename” order_direction=”ASC” returns=”included” maximum_entity_count=”500″]

@chelai – Thanks for the shortcode you are seeing … the template parameter may not need the full path, just “caption” should be enough; also, in some cases the “ID” parameter may need to be removed. This is another possible quirk found when using NextGEN Legacy templates.

I would suggest removing the ID parameter first, if that does not solve the issue try changing the template parameter reference.

    Thanks, again!

    Hi Cais,

removing the “ID” parameter solved the problem! Thank you very much for the good support!
