Gallery Link Type setting

    The latest version of Postie seems to have changed the default setting of Gallery Link Type .

    In prior versions, the image in the post would link to the URL of the image. This would allow you to rotate an image (via Media screen) if needed, and the newly rotated image would be shown in the generated post.

    The Gallery Link Type ‘default’ setting now seems to not use the image URL, but just the image. So if you rotate an image (via Media screen) or crop or otherwise edit the image, the changed image is not shown in the post.

    It appears that you have to change this setting to URL from default to fix this, which is a bit of work when you have multiple sites using Postie. And you have to change each posts’ pictures to use URL – lots of posts to edit.

    In addition, the docs don’t specify what the Gallery Link Type default setting is.

    So, would like the Gallery Link Type ‘default’ setting to be set back to URL as in previous versions, or at least the ‘default’ explained …. what is the ‘default’?

    There have been no changes to Postie with regards to Gallery Link Type in a long time.

    If you choose Default the shortcode [gallery] is inserted in the post. Other plugins can change the behavior of that shortcode, which is I suspect what is happening.

    Thanks. I don’t think that any other plugins in that site are changing the [gallery] shortcode, but that is good information so I can look for it.

    When I test with “Automatically insert image gallery” set to “Yes” and “Gallery Link Type” set to “Default” the resulting gallery has a link to the attachment, not to the image.
