@nickmohler – There were some issues with the Headway theme and its use of Gzip compression (there is an option in the theme for it), you could try turning it off but as far as I recall this was sorted out.
If this doesn’t sort out the problem, what changed on your site prior to the single-column layout occurring?

Thank you. That resolved it.
@nickmohler – Thanks for the update!

I’m having the same trouble. Galleries on the main page are loading in one column. If you click on the post title to show it alone, they are displaying properly. Similarly previewing the post. I have tried 3 different browsers on a Mac running Snow Leopard. Someone else on a PC reports that they display properly.

Update. Strangely, clicking update on the post seems to bring things back properly. An erratic fault? Will have to see what happens over time.
Hmm. Another user reports “Mine is in one long column too, on pc in chrome and internet explorer”

PS: Yes, that’s the same text I used in the other topic you jumped into as well.
I realize I closed this post, but the same thing has happened on my other site: an example of the issue on http://frenchcreekartcolony.com/terry-boyle/
As before, First I thought I needed to update NextGen, so I did. Then I updated WordPress. I updated all of the other plugins.
This time, I disabled Gzip compression but no change. I went through the css settings, and disabled the plugins.
When I switch to a different theme, it loads properly. Any other tips for this? Thank you for your help,
Are you finding that the WP login bar and toolbar are disappearing when viewing the site?
Have you got Jetpack Protect switched on? Try turning it off.
Neither of those fixes have helped either. This is rather perplexing. I have two websites with the same theme, and I’ve gone through and they both have the same settings/plugins – but the nextgen gallery is loading different on each one.
I added css for ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box thinking that would help it. Nothing.
Upgraded every plugin. Deactivated every plugin. It’s clearly the theme, but why wouldn’t the plugin work with the theme?
@nickmohler – I would suggest there is some setting or other third-party item that is different on the non-working site … or even the server environment (although extremely rare) could be at the root of this problem.
– Cais.
WP is so labyrinthine that I would not be at all surprised if there is not a very small difference somewhere in the settings, not obvious, that is causing the difference.
And NextGen’s settings are labyrinthine too. Have you got eg lightbox set on one and fancybox on the other? Can you be sure the settings are EXACTLY the same?
@digbymaass – Thanks … that’s where I was leading to as well.
– Cais.
Well, ultimately I installed Headway version 2.0.15 – clunked around awhile trying to sort out if there was a missing setting, I disabled all of the plugins – that didn’t work.
Get this, I finally decided to enable the Gzip compression because why not, nothing else was working. And boom, it’s fixed.
The other site I manage, needed Gzip disabled.
Anyway, it’s fixed. Until next time. Thanks for your assistance.
@nickmohler – Thanks for the updates! We’re happy to read all is working well now.
