gallery re ordering itself?

Hi, when I make a gallery with say 3 columns wide it seems to choose an ordering of the images on it’s own.
When creating a gallery on wordpress there is an option to put it in random order however this is unchecked.

Am I getting a bug or is this how the gallery is built, very frustrating when I’ve spent time curating a set of images but can’t get them to display in that order
