    I understand the size of the gallery is controlled by the main_size parameter.

    Although most of my photos are landscape (and display nicely), when a portrait image is shown only the top half of the image is displayed on the screen and you must scroll down to see the lower half. This is the case when using a laptop / desktop with landscape screen.

    On a mobile phone this problem does not exist, as the phone screen is portrait and the portrait photos fit the screen. Interestingly the landscape photos correctly scale to fit by width.

    I am wondering if there is any way to set specific and individual limits to the width and height of a gallery, in order to resolve this issue? Or perhaps there is another simpler solution?

    Hi,
    Sorry for the delay in responding – I have been fighting with trying to get some Instagram changes approved.

    To answer your question, it is not possible to define dimensions for individual images. That being said, you can set an option, Photonic → Settings → Generic Options → Slideshow settings → Slideshow Image Adjustment. Pick the one that says, “Show whitespace to the sides for narrower images”. This should help keep your gallery at a fixed height.

    Hello @sayontan ,

    I have the same issue as @rcoopr with a Google Photos slideshow. I have enabled the “Show whitespace to the sides for narrower images”, but it seems to simply just cuts the horizontal images. Any suggestion as to why it might be and how to solve it?

    Thanks!

    Daniel

    Hi,

    I join this discussion while still open, I have a similar problem with different sizing but not about slideshow. The setting mentioned above is about “slideshow” but not for example about a random tiled gallery. Fact is, the gallery looks ok with mainly landscape photos but if there is a portrait photo in the middle, it got stretches in the landscape format too. But for a strange reason, if I click on this particular photo, I see it in slideshow mode, no problem, and when it’s back to the gallery, then the gallery is ok and this photo appear in portrait mode finally.

    @btcdattia,
    I will put in a fix for this in 2.33 (should be out in a couple of days).

    @rely28,
    Your issue is unrelated. I believe you have a lazy loading plugin on your site. Lazy loading plugins tend to mess with images in irregular layouts; a justified grid requires the full image to be loaded before it can determine the layout, but a lazy loading plugin prevents the image from loading unless it is displayed, by which time it is too late for the justified grid layout. If you disable lazy loading for your page you will be fine.

    I just released 2.33, which should show the white space on the sides for narrower images in slideshows.

    I am marking this thread “resolved”. Please feel free to post back if it is not working.
