We have noticed that there have been gaps recently in the order #.
    Missing 2656 jumps to 2667
We also had a previous gap of 4 orders.
There have never been gaps before.
We didn’t receive the confirmation emails either.

Also, this has only happened since the latest update of WordPress – not sure it’s related.
I am using WOocommerce version 2.1.5

Is there any way to track what happened?

  • “Order#” is not stored in the database for its own variable/value. It is just a modification of a post-type. So if you make any other inputs to add into database like a new page, a post, a setting modification, etc that will end up adding to that value and then when a new order is made by a customer, then the new order-id will not be just +1 of the latest one.

That’s why they later develop an extension for such functionality:

The WooCommerce Sequential Order Numbers Pro plugin allows your store to have sequential, rather than random, order numbers.
