Save in database (stored in website owner server):
– user id (if user logged in)
– user ip
– user agent
– download id
– download date

Yes, it is necessary to store these data to run the download counter.
If necessary, I can do a change (plugin update) to enable and disable the download counter. If turned off, no user data is stored.
