Hi Anita,
I thought a 2nd checkbox is needed when the form is for some other purpose but it’s also used to get email newsletter subscribers.
For example a “Fill in the form to download a file”, and then you also put a checkbox to allow them to subscribe to the newsletter if they want, if not selected they would just get the file, they won’t be subscribed.
But in this case the form is specifically for subscribing.
Can you check with the lawyer and see if you can get more info on that. We’ll add it if needed of course.
Hi,
thank you for your reply. I especially went to that seminar to get a answer to right this question. Of course it is always a matter of interpretation by the lawyers and some say it’s not necessary. In Germany we are a kind of at the top notch of regulations, bureaucracy and getting double asureness. We probably have the strongest data safety regulations of all and people are handling it very strikt here. I guess it was a kind of made here xD
Well, as I said I went there to get exactly this question answered and he told me that I would need two checkboxes like here:
https://www.fontshop.com (also without download)
He told me the second checkbox is to agree to the kind of news that you will send with the newsletter. And then I am allowed only to send these kind of news and nothing else.

We’ll add an option for a secondary checkbox in the next update.
But for example one fontshop.com, when I go to subscribe to their newsletter at fontshop.com/newsletter-subscription there is no checkboxes at all.
Supercool! Thank you!
Fontshop shows me two checkboxes and two links, when I want to sign up. Maybe it’s country specific. Hmmm… However! THANK YOU! 🙂

True, might be country specific. But I am in Europe ( not EU but still in Europe ), so should apply to me as well.
Anyway, the planned day for the update is this Friday.
