Hi, I am planning some work on this.
I don’t know if a checkbox is needed, I don’t see it part of the GDPR discussions for WordPress Core.
There is now an export for each user added. I think I will add a user search for the admin entries page.
Hi Marcel, Apparently for a feature such as your Guestbook (I really like it by the way) the requirements of GDPR are that:
“it needs to include a checkbox specifically asking the user if they consent to storing their message attached to the e-mail address they’ve used to comment. The checkbox must be unchecked by default. You also need to mention if you will send or share the data with any 3rd-parties and which.”
So maybe a simple checkbox and the facility to add some custom text (as above) would satisfy this?
I have to say that I’m struggling as much as anyone else to ensure that all my sites are GDPR compliant…
Keep up the good work!
Thanks
Thank you.
Just today it was added.
Thanks for mentioning it is not supposed to be default checked. I fixed that.
If you want, you can try the development version.
There is a textarea where you can edit that text specifically for your site.
There is also work in progress to add a Privacy Policy to WP Core, so you can easily add a general page with info for that.
That’s terrific Marcel – many thanks!
