We just installed the “GDPR Cookie Consent” plugin into a client website (only in the Staging area right now, so it’s not accessible from the ‘outside’) and a tutorial video (https://youtu.be/6Rf1OwKVFxs?t=840) notes that you may want to put a script into the “This script will be added to the page HEAD section if the above setting is enabled and use has given consent” box.

Is this script absolutely necessary if Google Analytics are ‘installed’ into the website already? If we don’t put a script in there, will is ‘mess up’ the Google Analytics (such that there will not be analytics ‘recorded’ for the user that clicks “Accept”)? OR, should we just disable the “Non-necessary cookie” option?

Thanks, ahead of time, for your efforts on this!

    Hi @mbesh,

If you need to manage the google analytics cookie based on user consent, you will need the add the script via this plugin itself and only via the plugin.

If you implement it directly in theme or by any other means, the script will not run based on consent. It will load without user accept.
