    I’ve got what is probably a dumb question.

    I’d like to know how to get my portfolio just running. It’s installed. But I don’t see any direction on how to just get it working. With my thus-far limited wordpress experience, typically there is some kind of code from the plugin that gets dropped into a page which is where the portfolio then resides. But this doesn’t seem to be clear here. I’m sure it’s easy and probably obvious to someone who knows their way around. I do have images + categories populated. I’d really appreciate a quick description of how to do this in Visual Portfolio. Thanks!

    Hey.

    If you are using the native WordPress Gutenberg editor for your pages, you can find Visual Portfolio blocks and insert them into the page. Example – https://visualportfolio.co/documentation/portfolio-blocks/

    In case, if you don’t use the Gutenberg editor, and use something like Elementor page builder, you will need to create portfolio layouts and then insert the generated shortcode to your pages. Example – https://visualportfolio.co/documentation/saved-layouts-and-shortcodes/

    In both situations, you can choose some output options:

    * Images
    * Posts
    * Social

    Images will let you select the images from the Media library to display in the gallery

    Posts will let you output any post types. For example Portfolio Items – https://visualportfolio.co/documentation/portfolio-items/

    You can read more about these sources in documentation – https://visualportfolio.co/documentation/portfolio-blocks/content-source/

    Thank you! I’ve now got a page up with some portfolio items. My next question/s is this:

    I’m using posts as my portfolio. I’d like to use custom thumbnail images (the reason I bought this plugin). I’ve got custom thumbs selected in the post, but when I click on the thumb, the image in the lightbox is still the thumb. I’ve selected a different Feature Image, but the thumb still appears. How do I get the thumb image to differ from the feature image in the lightbox? Also, the links without custom thumbs link directly to their post page.

    I’d also like the user to have the option to 1. click the thumb and open a lightbox OR 2. go directly to the post (as some of my images have more info associated with them). Is this possible?

    Thank you for any help. I’m really hoping all of this is possible. I’ve been searching and trying (and buying) multiple galleries for over a week, none of which seem to do the above. A module I have on a joomla site does this, so I know it’s possible.

    Thanks for any help. And I’ll keep trying myself.

    FYI, here is a link to my portfolio page, I’ve got a few test posts up:

    As I keep working, I also notice my filters don’t seem to work. They’re listed correctly above the thumbs, but when clicked, the spinner just spins.

    Sorry to inundate with so much!
