• Hi GP team,

I’m building a demo website with GeneratePress v2.4.2, WooCommerce v4.1.1 and WordPress v5.4.2.

In order to show only WooCommerce products when searching with the navigation search form I added the code showed here to GP functions.php, and it works nicely!

After that I installed “Elementor v2.9.13” and “WooLentor v1.6.6” to customize the “shop” and “single product” pages but now when I search with the navigation search I get all products on the store instead of just the ones that matches the searched term.

In order to find a solution I have:
    -Disabled all other plugins
    -Disabled the cache plugin

I understand that this could be caused by the “WooLentor” plugin but I would appreciate any directions you can give me to sort this problem.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Hi there,

So did the issue disappears when you disable the WooLentor plugin?

If so do you mind checking with their support first?

Not sure why it would affect the navigation search from the theme.

I have disabled “WooLentor v1.6.6”, so now it’s out of the table, the only plugin that can be causing this is “Elementor”, but I would love that the GP navigation search form and the search results page works properly with “Elementor”.

The problem persists, when I search with the navigation search I get all products on the store instead of just the ones that matches the searched term as if the search didn’t work at all.

Any suggestions that I can apply on GP?
    I appreciate any help.

    Thanks

I’d recommend checking with Elementor’s support to see if they have way to not interfere with GP’s navigation search.

Any technical information about how the GP’s navigation search works that you can give me so I can ask for support on Elementor? Like the APIsc functions or parameters?

    Thank you very much Leo

    Hi there,

Is there a specific term we can search to see the issue?

I tried searching for “foam” and all the results were products.

    Hi Tom,

For example, when “Elementor” is disabled this is the results page when search “Etude”, it shows 9 items, which are the correct “ETUDE” brand number products available on the store.

And with “Elementor” enabled the results page shows 114 items, which are all the items available on the store, so no search at all.

I’ll appreciate any directions on this. I’ll love to keep building with GP because it’s amazing. Thanks for your time.

    Hi there,

the issue is not isolated to the Navigation Search.
If you try the Order By filter above the shop grid it too does nothing.
Which means there is something wrong with the Elementor template.

Personally i cannot see what benefit there is in using Elementor to construct the shop archives…. might it be simpler to just use the theme options.

I recreated the shop page and the “Order By” filter does work properly, but I can’t get GP navigation search work with Elementor. I would like to use Elementor since it has some nice templates, any ideas? Thanks for your time.

the GP Navigation search behaves no differently to the WordPress search. Upon submit it generates a URL like so:

    https://nb0.0c3.myftpupload.com/?s=etude&post_type=product

If you can ask Elementor or Woolentor what query string they require then we can look at assisting with that.

I’ll ask Elementor that information, and I’ll write back when I get an answer. Thank you so much.

    You’re welcome
