generating thumbnail with embedding pictures

    Hi guys, i want to start a wallpaper site with the help of wordpress script. I don’t want to upload images to my dashboard because with thousands of pictures the load on the site is too much.My question is:I use embed code or even direct links from other sites and on the post it looks good but when i look at my thumbnail it shows me an empty picture with a small icon. Is there away around this that it will show thumbnails without uploading any pictures to the server?I tried the custom field thumbnail but its not working because you need a link to the upload folder.

    Hope someone can help

    Well i found out two plugins one called pinterest rss widget and the other called pinterest pinboard that generates thumbnails on the sidebar.
    This looks interesting because it shows thumbnails on my site but how can it work like i want to. I want if someone clicks on the thumbnails that it does not go to the pinterest site but to my post and below a source to the actual picture. Also can i put the thumbnails on the homepage for some reason i cant find any shortcodes.Hope someone can help me out so i can start a wallpaper site.     I still want to display 4×4 pictures on the homepage and not how its now.
