• Hello, I’m a user of the “Pro” version but have no luck trying to send an email to the provided support address (I get an error message that the recipient domain cannot be found?).

When I activate the geolocation feature, my error_log runs full, stating that the geoip database cannot be found.

I’m suspecting that my Cloudflare Web Application Firewall might be interfering, can you tell me what I need to look for and how the plugin will attempt to retrieve the geoip database?

    Thanks,

    Alex.

    Hello Alex,

Sorry about that email problem. We migrated our DNS provider today but it looks like the MX records (for email) might be in a little limbo. This should automatically resolve itself in a couple of hours, but there’s not much we can do until then…

As for your problem, is there anything in your error log like “error downloading GeoIP database” with a more specific reason?

The GeoIP database file is downloaded when you save your settings AND the geo-locate setting is enabled. If you re-save your Koko Analytics settings (without changing anything), does geo-location start working or does the error message above appear in your log by any chance?

That will give us a hint as to why it’s not working on your specific environment.

Haha, looks like I picked the perfect day to try and contact you! 😀

I can wait until the DNS update has propagated and send another email. I look at the error_log in the meantime and will follow-up via email in a few hours.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

    Hi Alex,

I dove into the code and spotted something that is very likely the cause of the issue. If you update to Koko Analytics Pro version 1.9.2, the issue should resolve itself.

If it doesn’t, let me know please.

    Best,
    Danny

I installed the update and now see the “geoip-db.mmdb” in the folder that was mentioned in the error_log file so it looks like you fixed it! Awesome, thanks!

Hurray! Happy to hear it @antermoia. Enjoy the new feature!

If you have any questions or suggestions on how to make the plugin better for you then I’d love to hear it.
