Get around PHP safe mode

    I’m just wondering if there’s any way to get around the PHP safe mode, so I can use the automatic upgrade when I upgrade my plugins (it’s sooooo tedious to do it via ftp every time!). My webhost wont turn it off, and I don’t really feel like changing. So is there any smart fix?

    For automatic upgrade, I don’t think you need a PHP safe mode…

    Yeah that I know. But now I happen to have it, and can’t get rid of it either, so I want to know if I can work around it.
