Get original plugin look back

Is there a way to get the original look of the calendar plugin back? I am now maintaining a wordpress site that has been using Simple Calendar for a while. When you updated from 2.4 to 3.x the layout changed from a nicely organized grid with the dates being different colors to a semi-grid with dots to show meetings. Is there any way to get the old calendar look with the new update or do I just need to keep version 2.4 and disable updates?
