When I tried to edit the .htaccess file in WP dashboard, I get a 404 error.

Is it bug from your end or doing something wrong from my end?

    Hello Manpasand,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your .htaccess file. The permissions to access and show the .htaccess file is set by the web hosting provider. We ask that you please reach out to your web hosting provider and confirm that your site has an .htaccess file as some set-ups do not. Also, ensure that the file has the right permissions so it can then be displayed in WordPress > SEO > Tools.

Previously it was working and current file numeric value is 644. This file is showing through WordPress > SEO > Tools.

Same file I can edit through FTP only but still counter the problem.

    Hi,

We’re not sure as to why when accessing the .htaccess file through the Yoast SEO file editor results in a 404, but we recommend reaching out to your web hosting provider.

You can also refer to this article for more information – https://yoast.com/help/how-to-edit-htaccess-through-yoast-seo/

You may also want to perform a conflict check, just to rule out that there aren’t any plugin or theme conflicts that could be causing this.

We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
