• Hello,

Apologies if this is wrong forum. Wasn’t sure if I should put it here or in the multisite forum.

I am moving a multisite installation from godaddy to a new host. I did so the same way I have migrated sites in the past.

-First I downloaded wp-config, wp-contents, and a backup of the database from the godaddy hosting.

-Then I created a new WP install on the new host. Replaced the the wp-config and wp-contents with the backups. I created a new database and imported the backup I had previously created

    – Edited wp-config to recognize new database. One difference from previous experience was the “MySQL hostname” in wp-config had some funky godaddy address. I changed it to “localhost”.

I have not pointed the domain over yet but edited my hosts file so I could view it. The home page comes up looking normal and I can get into the backend and everything is there. However all the links on Home give the notice:

    —-
    Not Found

The requested URL /about-atomik-comiks-tennessee/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    —-

I cannot access the other site of the multisite installation either. Not even the dashboard.

I tried resaving permalink already. I’ve drawn a blank

The domain is atomikcomiks.com but as I said I have not pointed to the new host yet so everything will appear to be working correctly.

After some more messing around I’ve found that switching the permalinks to ‘Default’ allows the pages to be viewed. Of course this is not what I want at all. Switching back to ‘post name’ results in the 404.

Something of note is the permalink structure is forcing /blog/ in into the URL. Some digging around suggests this is a result of the multisite installation.

Im still at a loss and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Found what the problem was. First I realized the new WP install did not create a new htaccess. So I imported the one from godaddy. When that didn’t work I continued searching for possible fixes.

    I ran across this thread:

Discovered I had the same problem,…. There was no . in front of my htaccess file.
