Getting 414 Error Message

    Previously, I never had issues with your plugin. But now, after updating it with the latest update, it starts notifying me EVERY time a bot is blocked. So I had to go in and uncheck the Notifications…

    And then, I noticed, it was blocking many good bots from long time ago. Geez. I had to find all the good bots and unblock them….

    And now, when I try to unblock more bots, I get this error….

    414
    Request-URI Too Large

    I had to take the trouble to go and upgrade my WordPress Memory Limit, thinking that will solve the problem.

    But NO…..Now, your plugin seems to have stopped working!

    So how??? The last thing you want to do is to annoy people, and to block good bots, and then, to stop working………

    I am about to give a one star review like this….

    Hi,

    The number of bots are increasing a lot. Many they are using fake user agent, then, we needed block also by IP. It is not easy and we are working hard to improve both tables (by name and by IP).

    I will release today a new version and define the default notification email with no. Version 5.17. Anyway, as you said, you only need mark the radio button with NO.

    I just checked the bots table management and i’m able to enable/disable them. I didn’t receive any message about this problem from ours more than 10.000 users. I suggest to you ask to your hosting provider to increase the Request-URI size in apache. They can fix it quickly. Otherwise, probably you will find the same issue with anothers plugins or theme.

    About block (good) bots, we put ours suggestions in the startup guide. We highlited in yellow this part to ask to ours users read that before activate the plugin. Sometimes one bot is good for you and it is bad for another user… That is why we told in the highlited text to take a look in your table (blockeds bots) and manage them frequently.

    Many times problems happens and we created one troubleshooting page (you can find the link in our dashboard page). For example:
    – Low memory available
    – Javascript erros created by another plugins or theme
    – Old wordpress versions
    – incompatibility with anothers plugins
    – and more
