The plugin shows there’s a new version available but when updating I get this error: “Update failed: undefined”

    I’m on version 5.3.3.1

    Thanks

    Hello @guymal,

I haven’t been able to reproduce this issue in my test environment. Do you have WPML installed as well?

If that’s the case, you may need to create a new key registration:

    • Please go to WPML.org and at https://wpml.org/account/sites/ look for your current key and erase it.
    • Create a new one with the new URL.
    • Go to your plugins panel and click under “Registered” button below WPML plugin.
    • Click on the “Unregister WPML from this site” link at the commercial page.
    • Add your new key.

Also don’t forget that you can always download a new WCML copy from this repository and install it.

    I hope it helps,
    Andrés

No, I don’t have WPML installed.

It could be either the theme, plugin or a combination of both. Therefore can you do the following: check if this issue appears in your test site when:

    • Only WPML plugins are activated, as it will tell us if there is an interaction issue with other plugin
    • Theme is set to a WordPress default like Twenty Nineteen as it will tell us if there is an interaction issue with your theme

If you don’t see the issue happening in the above scenario, can you try to determine whether this is a theme or a plugin issue?

Finally, you can always download a new WCML copy from this repository and install it.

Alternatively, you can also try the following:

    • Deactivate WCML.
    • Update it.
    • Reactivate it again.

If I deactivate WCML, update, and reactivate will I lose all my settings?

Your settings are stored in the database, so they should be kept.

Anyway, it is always recommended to perform any of these procedures in your test environment or after making a full backup of your site.

    Thanks I will try it.

Ok, I disabled the plugin, updated it, and reactivated it.

It seems to be working fine now.

    Thanks

    I’m glad it helped. 🙂
