• I have a decent amount of blogs on our site for the plugin to find related posts. By default, I want those in the same category to be prioritized, but what I’m seeing is even with “Category extra weight”, its still choosing articles in different categories that are unrelated.

    • Match Threshold: 5
    • Titles: consider
    • Bodies: do not consider
    • Categories: Consider with extra weight
    • Tags: do not consider
    • Sort Order: Score (High relevance to low)

I have a category that has 5 articles in it. If I open one of those posts, its showing me posts that are not in that category, and honestly their titles aren’t even relevant so I’m not sure how its deciding on these posts. Here is an example post

Title Understanding Modified Bitumen Roof Removal: What Property Owners Need to Know
    Category Modified Bitumen Roof

This then adds these related posts (first being most relevant?):

Title How Long Does It Take to Install a TPO Roof?
    Category TPO Roof
Title Why Flat Roof Drains Get Clogged and What It Means for Your Building
    Category Flat Roofs
Title Understanding Seamless Gutter Replacement: What Pittsburgh Homeowners Need to Know
    Category Seamless Gutter Replacement

For example, it does not relate this post and I’m not sure why as the title has more matching keywords and a related category:

Title How Is a Modified Bitumen Roof Built? Understanding These Flat Roofing Systems
    Category Modified Bitumen Roof

All of our content is roofing related, so a lot of it is in similar topics or share common keywords. How can I modify my YARPP settings to get a better result?

I don’t see how the first article is relevant. It doesn’t share any words in the title nor is it in the same category, yet it scores as the highest relevant option. The related articles feel more random than anything.

    Hello.

    I’m having the same problem.

I’ve increased the weighting of the title and tag, kept everything else at “normal,” and even with a umbral of 5, the results have absolutely nothing to do with the content. There are no age restrictions.

In many cases, they’re not even under the same tag, even though there’s content within it.

For example, I’m creating an article that includes the word “Ajedrez” in the title, and I assigned it to the same category and tags as another article that also has “Ajedrez” in the title. This one doesn’t even appear among the related content, but other articles in the same category (though not necessarily in the same category) do, but with different tags. It doesn’t seem to make much sense.

Exact same issue I’m having. Dozens of posts in the same category, Categories set to Consider with Extra Weight, and body and tags to not considered.

In thousands of posts, I’ve yet to find one that is recommending a post in the same category. They are all completely random it feels like. I noticed today the plugin hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. My guess is that it simply no longer works with the newer versions of WordPress.
