    Hi,

I have installed the free version of the instagram plugin. Connected an account and created a feed. I am getting the error:

HTTP Error. Unable to connect to the Instagram API. Feed will not update.
Error connecting to https://graph.instagram.com/me?. http_request_failed – cURL error 28: Connection timed out after 10002 milliseconds

I have removed characters after “me?”.

I am looking to purchase the pro version, but want to make sure it works before ourchasing.

I have verified on the hosting server that graph.instagram.com is not blocked. I ran the following on the hosting server:

    curl -I https://graph.instagram.com
    HTTP/2 400

    Hi @viqi11 ,

Thanks for reaching out and for providing that detailed information!

The “cURL error 28: Connection timed out” message typically indicates that your server is having trouble connecting to Instagram’s API. Even though your command-line curl test was successful, the environment your WordPress site uses to make requests can sometimes have different configurations or restrictions.

Here are a couple of things you can try to resolve this:

    1. Reconnect the Source: Sometimes this can be a temporary issue. Please try waiting about 10-15 minutes and then attempt to reconnect your Instagram account within the plugin settings.
    2. Contact Your Web Host: If the issue continues, it’s very likely a restriction on your server. We recommend contacting your hosting provider and letting them know you are seeing a “cURL error 28: Resolving timed out” when your website tries to connect to the Instagram API. They should be able to check their firewall or other security settings to ensure that connections to Instagram are not being blocked for your website.

As an alternative, if you are not already, you could also try connecting your account as an Instagram “Business” profile, as this uses a slightly different connection method that may work better on your server’s configuration.

We hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to reply here or contact us directly at [email protected].
