• WordPress 4.9.8 running Twenty Seventeen theme.

    Hi there,

I’ve a crazy problem which is driving me nuts. For the front end of my website, I have installed the above theme.
No matter which visitor counter plugin I employ, I receive all stats as Zero for the front end of the website. Google Analytics provides plenty of reports for those clients with access beyond the paywall and equally reports no-one, ever, visits the front end of the website – http://www.trendsandtargets.com

I’ve chopped and changed through various WP plugins or even just visitor counter tools but the result is always the same. No-one ever visits the front end of the website! Not even me from my tablet, my phone, behind a VPN, or wherever.

Can anyone tell me what box to tick or what to enable? I’ve followed all the instructions regarding emplacing the correct analytics code but, as with life, I keep failing. <grin>

    Many thanks0

How have you added analytics code? I see no evidence of it when I visit your site.

Huge thanks for taking a look. This is driving me a little nuts.

Copied and pasted from Google several times but when I look through the php headers, find no evidence WP has actually saved it anywhere.

I spent a while this morning using an FTP browser to go through the website files and despite the code being “SAVED” by GA Google Analytics (currently – this being my latest plugin attempt), it appears not to make it through to any of the pages.

I’ve some experience with websites but this is my first attempt at using WP for a site. No complaints aside from MY inability to add tracking code.

Should I edit a php file and add the code manually. If so, which would you recommend?

Install a Google Analytics plugin like “Monster Insights”. It will correctly add stuff to your site’s headers.

    Even bigger thanks again!

Now installed, it has correctly connected to my Google Analytics account but does not appear to have placed code in the site headers.

Which files should I be scanning?

    Many thanks

Do you have any caching plugins? If so, clear the cache.

Gosh, you’re patient. Further thanks due.

Nope, no caching plugins and still cannot view Google code, when I view source at the route of the site.

Maybe the plugin’s developers can help: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/google-analytics-for-wordpress
