Gigpress – as header?

Hello, my client wants to have his tour dates as the content at the very top of his webpage. Gigpress has a sidebar widget available, and a shortcode to install it dynamically on a page.
To be honest I don’t know how this could be done without breaking the average theme, or looking attractive. I assume it can be done, almost anything can be done… Are there some good themes out there that somehow have a header or top bar that acts like a sidebar and can take widgets?
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!
Website is bare-bones at the moment. Want to see if I can figure this out before committing to a full custom layout and all…
