Hello there – many thanks for a clean, useful approach to setting up a maintenance/coming soon page.

The “Glass” template doesn’t currently render correctly on any browser or device. Instead of the transparent box floating over the background image, I get a solid box that fills the width of my window, it’s also attached to the top of the browser window, ie., no space or margin or padding above the box.

It worked well a couple of days ago when I first installed and configured the plug-in – not sure what has happened since then. I’ve tried switching themes, turning off maintenance mode – everything short of deleting the plug-in and reinstalling it.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks!

    Hi @dburney,

Thanks for appreciating the IgniteUp plugin. It’s a pleasure to hear.

I’m sorry that you had to face this problem. But the problem you are facing should be because a CSS conflict from a theme or another plugin. So you should find which plugin or theme cause this conflict.

When IgnteUp loads the maintenance mode page, there’s a dequeue process happening to remove all other stylesheets that has been registered in the WordPress default way. So that those styles won’t conflict with our templates.

But from some themes and/or plugins, they are forcing some CSS to be printed. So those type of CSS styles will make conflicts with our templates.

I’m suggesting you to switch to a WordPress default theme like Twenty Fifteen and try deactivating your recent installed plugins one by one.

Like you said if it worked well before few days back, it’s something you have installed after the days it worked.

I hope you find your conflict. And let us know if you find the specific plugin or theme did cause this conflict so we can see if we have a fix for it to avoid it in the future. 🙂

    Thanks!

Perfect – thanks for your help. The theme AVADA is the culprit – which is unfortunate as I’m using Ignite for a placeholder while I develop the web site. So disabling the theme to maintain the appearance of the placeholder won’t work. However, the screen as it renders isn’t bad – I just couldn’t figure out why it had changed. It never occurred to me that the theme CSS would override the plug-in.

And if I might make one more subtle suggestion – the grammar in the email sign up confirmation could be polished a tiny bit 🙂 just to sound a bit more professional. Here’s what I would recommend:

“Thank you! Your email added successfully”
Could be… “Thank you! Your email has been added successfully.” or “Thank you! Your email was added successfully.”

And the kickback for an existing email could read…
“That email address already exists.” instead of “That email address is already exists.”

    Thanks again for your help.

It’s sad to hear you have to stop using IgniteUp.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
We will fix those in the next update.

    Thanks!

No worries – I’ll still plan on using the plug-in 🙂 it just doesn’t render how I expected it to.

We are working so hard to avoid conflicts by improving code from our end. Of course we made lot of improvements in the journey from versions 1.0 to the current 2.0.

Again thank you for letting us know your issue. If you value our effort, rate IgniteUp and help us to spread the word.

    Thanks!
