    Hi,

I have added the details based on your documentation to send mail using gMail, however, I keep getting an error. We have checked the username and password and it is correct, any suggestions, I am hosting with Cloudways and am using Own SMTP to send which I have working on a nnother domain.

Could not authenticate your SMTP account.

This means we were able to connect to your SMTP host, but were not able to proceed using the email/password in the settings.

Typically this error is returned when the email or password is not correct or is not what the SMTP host is expecting.

  • Hi @barlee,

Thanks for reaching out. When you get a chance, could you please share a full error log recorded when you send a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Email Test? Here’s a screenshot for the option to get a full error log. This will give us an idea of what might be going on.

You might need to enter an App password instead of your regular Gmail account password. This is required if your Gmail account has two-factor authentication enabled.

    Thanks!

Thanks, where do you generate that error log, or collect it should I say?

    Hi @barlee,

The error log is generated after you send a test email and if it fails. Here’s a screenshot for the option to get a full error log.

    Thanks!

Hi @barlee – We haven’t heard from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
