I’m interested in editing some custom features that are included in a Theme I purchased for Holiday bookings. It would really help if there was a good in depth tutorial that covered creating custom features inside the WordPress admin. All I can find is http://code.tutsplus.com/series/customizing-the-wordpress-admin–wp-33724

Which covers renaming/removing/moving menu items and styling the dashboard, but nothing about creating/editing new menus/features/pages for the admin.

Anyone know of anything that might help, a video would be even better if there is one.

    Kind Regards

  • Check for a plugin that lets you edit the client dashboard in the plugin repository. ClientDash and ABD might solve your problem. I know @brashrebel and @joelworsham are really well versed here.

This isn’t what I was asking, sorry. I’m trying to edit a feature that has been added in a theme design. Nothing to do with how it looks, but an actual function.

Basically the theme has an inbuilt Google map with a location selector in the admin area, which when a new user registers they can place themselves on it, as this is for international businesses to sign up I need to make sure all possible locations are available, the only good way to do this is to let them type it in themselves, but the person who built the theme has limited it’s functionality by only allowing selections from a predefined drop down menu, I want to remove the drop down menus and replace them with text boxes that will interact directly with Google Maps MySQL database. It looks fairly straight forward if I can locate the drop down menu’s code in the admin files of the theme.

Sorry for the delays in response, I’m moving right now. What theme and plugin are we looking at? Who wrote the code? Have they been able to help at all?
