• I have added the Google Analytics Code to this website myself. That always worked. I have no added Complianz and configured it as seen in the below screenshots.

Because I have set it to not ask consent for statistics, I expected it to always load the Analytics cookies and track statistics. That’s not the case do.

    • The analytics cookies are not there when you first visit the page
    • The Cookie banner has Statistics disabled by default
    • When you deny cookies, you don’t get the analytics cookies
    • Accepting is the only way to get the analytics cookies and get visitor statistics

Did I misunderstand and configured something wrong?

    Thanks

    Hello @jpnl ,

Thanks for your message. I am sorry to hear that.

From the screenshots, everything looks correctly configured. However, I also noticed that the statistics aren’t being triggered before consent, even though consent for statistics is not required (from the screnshots).

Could you please try finishing and saving the settings again via the wizard, just to make sure everything is stored properly?
Sometimes the plugin doesn’t get the time to fully save the settings right away, this can happen depending on the site’s performance, since Complianz runs locally.

After doing that, please clear your cache and check again.

Let me know how it goes.
    Best regards,
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,

I ran the wizard again, but it didn’t make a difference.

However, I had the setting “Do you target visitors from Germany, Austria, Belgium, and/or Spain?” Set to “Yes”. It worked after I had set that to “No”, so it looks like that one overrules the setting “Do you want to ask consent for statistics?”.

That makes sense when reading the tooltip, so now I have a few suggestions regarding this:

    1. If “Do you target visitors from Germany, Austria, Belgium, and/or Spain?” is set to yes, then automatically set “Do you want to ask consent for statistics?” to “yes” and disable the field.
    2. Or, keep the “Do you want to ask consent for statistics?” setting enabled and, if set to “no”, do not ask for consent unless the visitor actually comes from Germany, Austria, Belgium or Spain.

    Thanks
    JP

    Hello @jpnl ,

Yes, there is indeed an override in this case, and your observation is correct.

We’ll be moving in one of the two directions you suggested, and I’ll forward your feedback to the team so it can be considered in the next sprint.

Thanks for the detailed explanation and suggestions!

    Best regards,
    Antonio

    Thanks!
