• Hi,

    Is there a solution or going to be a solution for WP X BC to work with GA Enhanced Ecom Tracking? Topher and team said almost 2 years ago in the community forum this was getting looked at but nothing has come through and numerous people have asked on the BC community forums since but nobody is replied to and are ignored? Noticed a few people have moved to Shopify over this and can’t understand why a solution is not out yet.

    Currently, if you use WP and BC there is no way to track sales which is a very very basic function for an Ecom site. If anyone is going to take this plugin seriously this needs to be fixed. We are already way too deep and committed to move but this is a major issue.

    Hi @jamesc91
    As you’re aware, the checkout is embedded. Meaning it’s an iframe hosted on BC. With that said —
    You can connect your site to google analytics for cross-domain analytics for embedded checkout. It’s not the easiest of methods, I’ll say though.

    Alternatively, the plugin developers have a temporary solution in place right now for embedded checkout to alleviate the cross-domain setup. I’ll share with you what the plugin developers said about this;

    There is a callback from checkout when a customer has successfully completed their checkout process. When this happens, we do trigger a generic analytics event. All you would need to do is add the GA code in your store admin. Please know that It is not Advanced Ecomm, because, again, the plugin does not have of the required data to send to Google (product sku arrays, prices, totals, etc). All that is known is what the user had in the cart before they went into the checkout.

    Improvement to checkout and analytics is very much so still on the roadmap. There is much discovery and testing required for this, as BigCommerce is working with ModernTribe (the plugin developers). Our teams are much getting closer to a resolution, but there is no eta on delivery at the moment.

    Best,

    Heather
