Google Analytics purchase tracking issue

Hi,
I’ve encountered an issue on the website I’m building regarding purchases that don’t get registered by Google Analytics. I think I figured out the source of the issue, which is that customers are redirected to a custom Thank You page (build and redirected using a plugin) after finishing an order. I read somewhere that the data layer is skipped this way, since the customer doesn’t land on a page where the data would otherwise be tracked.
I would like to know if anyone could help me with getting the Analytics tracking back to working or has an alternative solution.
