    Hello everyone,

I’m trying to set up the Complianz plugin with Google Analytics on beint.de.

Unfortunately, the Analytics script gets included on the side all the time. Completely ignoring, that I do not have accepted the plugin options.

Interestingly, I’m missing the “Statistics” option in the cookie notice on the bottom right side. I’m using the plugin with another WordPress installation and Matomo, and this is working perfectly.

What am I missing? The wizard runs smoothly and identified all cookies, as far as I can judge. If I’m disabling the Complianz plugin, the Google Analytics script isn’t included on the side. So I’m assuming, that the overall settings for the statistics option are correct.

    Best,
    Fabian

    Hi @fdeitelhoff,

    Could you please check:
    1. Did you indicate that you are targeting Germany/Austria? (wizard -> general -> visitors)
    2. Wizard -> cookies -> statistics, you indicated Google Analytics and when relevant one or more of the checkboxes
    3. In the next step entered your UA- or G-code, and answered ‘Yes’ on the two other questions in this section.
    4. Safe mode is not enabled under Complianz -> Settings

If the problem still persists, we’ll have to investigate further.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

    Hi @leonwimmenhoeve,

Many thanks for your help! It was the “Germany/Austria” option.

Can you explain why this is important? I thought it is a “targeting only Germany/Austria…” option. But it seems to be important for the statistics functionality.

    Hi @fdeitelhoff,

When the option to target visitors from Germany/Australia is active, it adds the option to ask consent for anonymized statistics.

In most EU countries you don’t need consent to set anonymized Google Analytics to track visitor behavior, but Germany and Australia require user consent in order to gather privacy-friendly statistics.

    Hope this helps,
    Jarno

    Hi @jarnovos,

Many thanks. That is a very useful explanation and makes absolutely sense!
