Google Analytics suddenly stopped tracking site. I have been using Site Kit and it has been going fine. From last week, no data sent to Analytics.

I disconnected and reconnected then insert snippets, nothing.

    Anyone has this experience?

    Hi there @mfonabel,

If you want to share the following information I can advise on this further.

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. When you mention there was no data since last week are you checking this on analytics.google.com or does the data within the Site Kit dashboard show zero statistics from the past 7 day reporting period?

Without knowing your site URL at present it’s difficult to troubleshoot however it may be possible your Google Analytics snippets were modified via another plugin or there may be a cookie consent plugin impacting reporting. Once we know of the above we can determine more.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hello @jamesosborne ,

    Thank you.

    1. I have done that. πŸ™‚

    2. I meant no data at analytics.google.com. I visit site via incognito, no real time data at analytics.google.com . All empty

I am not using any cookie consent plugin. I have disabled most plugins to troubleshoot

Many thanks for sharing the additional information. From the output of your Site Health information I can see that Site Kit has been configured to insert the Google Analytics snippet. I don’t however notice this when checking manually, or using the tagassistant.google.com service.

To troubleshoot this further can you temporarily deactivate the Templ Cache and Templ Cache Optimizer plugins and inform me once done? You can also check the Google Analytics real time reporting after doing so, just be sure to visit your site while not logged in. I mention this as the default configuration within Site Kit doesn’t include logged in traffic.

If we don’t see any Google Analytics snippet we’ll perform some additional checks. As there are indications your domain name is pointing to Cloudflare servers this may involve purging your Cloudflare cache if this is the case.

    Hello @jamesosborne ,

    Thank you once again.

Yes, I have done that before reaching out. I just did it again, deactivated the two plugins, no trace of analytics code in Source Code or any hit in Google Analytics via incognito.

Cloudflare is used for DNS only not proxy.

I was thinking probably someone has faced same issue

    Hello @jamesosborne

I have found the issue. Nothing to do with Site Kit. Last week, I push staging to live via my web host’s control panel. Apparently they WP_ENVIRONMENT_TYPE to staging on the live site.

All it needed was for that to be changed and all is fine now.

    Thank you

Thanks for the update. I can see it’s finally tracking now, as evident by checking manually and also using tagassistant.google.com.

It seems it may have been related to caching if it appeared after deactivating. Do you want to check this from your side also before marking this as resolved?

Not caching. Kindly see my reply.

    Thank you and best regards

Thanks for the update. Looks like I missed your reply with the resolution.

Nice troubleshooting! If you run into any further issues or if you have any queries be sure to get in touch. Best of luck with your site. Once you get a chance to test out the Site Kit dashboards don’t forget to leave a plugin review.

    Thank you!
