Hello @rayeason ,
Theoretically yes, if GDPR applies in your case, tracking generally requires consent.
However, please keep in mind that we are not lawyers, so we cannot tell you exactly what you must do, especially since every country has its own rules and legislation.
Our plugin is a tool that helps you align with major regulations (GDPR, CCPA etc.), but specific use cases like this should always be reviewed and approved by you (and, if needed, your legal counsel).
I hope this clears things out.
Best regards,
Antonio
Thank you. We have 1 site that may need GDPR. The others are only concerned with locality in the US.
With that said, what trigger would Google Tag and Google Analytics GA4 Events use?
Trigger Marketing or Trigger Statistics?
Hi @rayeason,
Both triggers are valid, it just depends on what the tag is doing.
You can choose the trigger based on the purpose of each tag, but usually the triggers are used in this way:
- Pure measurement = Statistics
- Advertising or user profiling = Marketing
I hope this helps,
Antonio
