• I’ve tried submitting the sitemap generated by WordPress SEO (1.4.6) to Google Webmaster Tools and I get the following error in the result:

Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit.

Has anyone else experienced this? My sitemap can be found here.

  • Hi cwodwrth and everyone,

I have a very similar issue. I have ‘custom post types’ or portfolios as they are known with my theme and am trying out Yoast on a small subsite that only has ‘one’ portfolio and the site map I submit using WordPress SEO (1.4.6) to Google Webmaster Tools flags up this issue…

Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

Clearly a similar issue and I like cwodwrth would love some feedback on this 🙂

    Many thanks

You know, this seems to have fixed itself today (2 days later). I don’t know if this was simply an issue of the sitemap takes a little while to be generated and I was trying too soon or what, but it went away without me taking further action.

    Hope that helps you guys.

    Cheers cwodwrth,

Binned Yoast. To many small issues and little if no answers.

Back with ‘All in One’ which did the job fine in the first place.

Worth a try but just not worth the trouble :/
