I’m an ER Plus customer and I receive no answer to my support request since 5 days now! So I try it here.

I’m panicking, I received this email from Google this morning. Since I only use your plugin for the Rich Snippet, I hope you can help. Thanks!

Incorrect structured data might remove rich snippets for http://junedarville.com/

I’m an ER Plus customer and I receive no answer to my support request since 5 days now! So I try it here.

This comes up a lot lately. This is what the moderators such as myself reply with.

For pro or commercial product support please contact the author directly on their site.

As the author is aware, commercial products are not supported in these forums. As you are their customer I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.

Which is a long way to say that the plugin author is not allowed to support the paid customers in these forums. If you get an answer from them here that does not include the words “Let’s take this to the customer support site” (or equivalent) then that author would get a polite shoulder tap saying “Please stop that.”

A repeat of that and the tap may with a brick and the author can risk getting their plugin pulled from these repos.

I’m sorry but paid product support is not for these forums.

Well thank you Jan for this explanation, and sorry for this, but I didn’t know.
BTW, it doesn’t change anything to the problem, because the ban of Google is valid on this plugin for the free version as well, so users and future users better know what is awaiting them if support is not taking action.

Good Evening lucbrialy,

Has the penalty been waived?

I noticed you’re also using the Genesis Theme, have you updated to the latest version of the theme? There were some issues with the theme and it’s my understanding that the theme has been updated to address it. I volunteer in the Webmaster Forum and we’ve had quite a few Genesis users report the penalty, updating to the latest version of the theme and submitting a reconsideration request has solved issues for others.

If the penalty doesn’t get waived I would be happy to assist.

I took a quick look at one of your recipe pages and noticed you’re marking up AggregateRating but I can’t see how a user can leave a review and/or rating (am I missing it??). If there’s no way for a user to leave a review and/or rating Google will likely question whether or not the existing reviews and/or ratings are legitimate. I checked a few recipe pages and all had a rating count of 1 with a 5 star rating – likely raised a red flag too.

Hello Grace,
Thank you for your kind message.
I had already the latest version of Genesis when I received the message from Google. I’m convinced the problem is indeed as you said the review system included in the ER plugin, and that has to disappear.
I contacted the support of the plugin for this, asking for the release of a corrected version (other recipes plugins have the same issue and already took action) but to no avail.
The support system for this plugin is to say the least not responsive!
I cannot change the plugin myself!
I only can recommend to NOT buy/use this plugin until this problem is solved.

Good Morning,

I found this support page perhaps it will offer a solution. If the information isn’t helpful I recommend disabling the reviews at this point, submit a reconsideration request to get the penalty lifted and when you’re able to speak with support you can implement the solution.

Dear Grace,

You are an angel and my life saver! It didn’t occur to me that there was indeed a possibility to disable the reviews in the general settings of the plugin. For my defense, the settings of the plugin have 9 tabs each with a myriad of fine-tuning possibilities. It is scandalous that the creator of this plugin doesn’t take the time to answer their customers.

I disabled the reviews and it looks ok now.

I will submit a reconsideration request immediately. I keep you posted!

FYI, I just send my reconsderation request to Google:

“As I understand the problem of the violation of the guidelines, it is probably due to the use of the default settings of the Easy Recipes Plugin I use for my website, which displays a review system.
I was of course not aware of this problem.
I have contacted the support of the plugin author, and this review-feature is now disabled everywhere on my website.
I hope the problem is solved this way and I ask you to review my website.
I will be glad if you inform me about the result of this review, and if any other problem remains, so I can take action again.
