• I’ve recently launched my first wordpress site – http://www.liam-sheridan.co.uk and everything seems to be going ok it terms of how the site works and functions. It’s still very much a WIP so be gentle with the criticisms.

About two to three weeks ago I changed the no follow no index off so that bits could crawl, see and index. As a matter of fact all requests go through fine in webmaster tools. But now I’m getting the following message in WMT –

http://www.liam-sheridan.co.uk/: Googlebot can’t access your site
Over the last 24 hours, Googlebot encountered 8 errors while attempting to connect to your site. Your site’s overall connection failure rate is 72.7%.

When I view or at least try to view the errors there is nothing there. Clicking around in WMT I see evidence that a previous version of my site is store – preview pop ups show an old homepage and robots.txt is an old version.

Has anyone else experienced these issues or similar?

My wordpress install is the latest version and I’ve limited the amount of plugins to just a few necessities…there aren’t any 404/410 errors either.

I’m a little lost to be honest and would appreciate any help.

  • Hi,

Kindly contact your hosting for this.

    Hi thanks for this.

My first action was to review my site and setup – created an additional 301 but that’s all.

My second action was to do as you said and contact my host. I’ve done so and all seemed fine from their end. Apparently they are unable to view error logs on my package – personally I think they can’t be bothered but nevertheless their initial views were that their were no errors.

Basically I checked your robots.txt file, that seems to be correct.

And this is basically a connection failure. That’s why I asked you to contact your host.

    Regards,
    PD

Thanks PD. I’m going to continue pushing the server provider as like yourself I can’t see any obvious issues.

Using webmaster to crawl pages manually is working fine as well. I am now wondering if maybe it’s an issue with what webmaster/googlebot may have indexed. As previews seem to show older versions on the site. Maybe there is a delay in WMT.

    Thanks again

Does anyone know if you can have connectivity issues with W3 total cache?
