• Hi, you all. My first post here. Be nice, please. 🙂

Okay, so I will fire up wordpress for the first time tomorrow. I have a few questions which Google have not been able to provide satisfying answers for. The premise is that writing posts straight into wordpress does not suit me. I want to use some kind of external software where I keep my drafts.

    1. If I write my posts in word I can safely use the “Paste from Word button” I presume? Does that also include word documents with hyperlinks and images in them?
Anything else I should be aware of when it comes to microsoft word and wordpress?
    2. Sometimes I like to use Google docs (in conjunction with google notes) to write articles. Can I simply copy my entire body of text in Google docs and then safely paste into a wordpress post?
    3. This last question might be really stupid (as opposed to the above which I assume are only slightly stupid) but using the methods above does not present any problems with seo all in one pack, or wp sniper pro does it? II mean…concerning seo optimizing of headers, images, etc.

Thank you for reading my questions. 🙂
    /Cheers

    No one…?

    hI there,

The premise is that writing posts straight into wordpress does not suit me. I want to use some kind of external software where I keep my drafts.

If you really want to write off line I would rcommend downloading windws live writer.
Word really isn’t suited to writing posts because of the word processor code it also inserts. If I have to do that I would copy and paste my work into something like notepad first to ensure no extra code
I don’t personally use the paste from word feature in wordpress for this reason.you can insert images with live writer by entering ftp information for uploading. I hope it goes well for you.
    mike.
PS. Live writer enables you to keep off line drafts.

Thanks Mike! But the problem with Live writer is that I can´t use my seo plugins with it, right?

Or is it possible to write a draft in Live Writer, then export it to wordpress, and from there insert meta data, optimizing title tags, etc, etc.? That would be awesome!

Hi, if you’re using all in one seo then you set that up from your admin area.live writer doesn’t affect your seo settings.
you can write as many drafts as you want in live writr then publish when you are ready.
    hope it helps. mike.

Again, thank you so much for helping me out! I have been contact with many people these past week about variuos issues and no one has been willing to help me out. Cept for you! 🙂

I have one final question. So, if I get this right: I can prewrite (with head line, text body, pics, links, etc.) my drafts in Live Writer, and from there paste it into the visual editor/tinymce, and when in the visual editor I can use my plugin (wp sniper or headspace actually) and fix the title tag, add meta description and meta keywords, etc?
Then, finally, when I optimized my post I can hit publish.

You are very welcome if this has been any help.
You don’t need to paste anything with live writer, if you set it up with your user name and password, you have the option of saving the post on your computer as a draft or to publish direct to wordpress, if you include pictures, you may be asked to add ftp info, you only add this once, after that you just publish when you want.Once the post is on your blog you can of course stlll do any further editing you feel necessary, I rarely find I have to.Just save as drafts while you are working on it, then pulish when you are ready, if ou make a mistake, nothing lost just login and delete the post.
I wish you the best of luck.
    mike.

Wondering if anyone can help me with this: I’ll use live writer from now on, but in the meantime, I have years’ worth of blog posts that were mostly pasted from MS Word. If I update to WordPress 2.6.1, all those posts will have goofy formatting. Any solution?
