It’s not invalid. The plugin does not work.

I created the API key exactly as per the instructions, but the plugin will not work. I have an API key that starts with “AI…” and a Places API that starts with “Ch…”. The API key is not restricted. Billing is set up and connected.

Why does it not work with my WordPress site?

OK, I think I solved my own problem, sort of. Google needs a fixed address in a single location, not a general service area. That’s a bit unfortunate for businesses that serve a general area, like many tradespeople and creatives do, rather than existing in a fixed location. If you have no actual storefront or office then Google Reviews plugins won’t work.

    Hi @markdevguy,

Unfortunately, you are correct, Google does not allow to use the Places API for a service or virtual areas (without a physical address). Sorry, we can’t fix it in the plugin, because it’s a limitation of Google.

    Thanks!
