google-hilite plugin and case wordpress?

I just enabled the search-hilite / google-hilite plugin for the first time and am quite happy with the results from a google search (after modding the colors).
The problem is that a search on the blog itself does nada, nothing, zip, zero. It is just like normal… no span.. no nothing.
