Google Maps unavailable?

Hey guys,
I’m a little bit confused.
My client use your plugin for a long time, I support the website just a few weeks.
Now I have to use the new API rules of Google and I’m not sure about what I need for this plugin.
Did I need the “Maps JavaScript API” for this plugin? This API is not for free, isn’t it?
So my question is at the end: Can I use Google Maps for this plugin for free or not?
