Google page verification link

    Okay, I know search is my friend, but I’ve been checking and applying every “solution” for the past few days with no luck. I MUST be doing something wrong.

    I’m trying to insert the Google+ link verification code into my header.php file so I can be “verified” by my google+ page.

    I understand from several solutions that this entry should be entered somewhere between the <head> and the </head> tag. I’ve done this numerous times and at several positions with no luck. All I get is the word “Google+” on the upper left-hand corner of each of my pages.

    The page cannot be verified by “testing” the link with google+.

    Hopefully someone can suggest what I’m missing or doing wrong.
