Google Search Console not Indexing

    I’m trying to list my website on the Google Search console, but when I submit a URL, I get the error:
    Indexing request rejected
    During live testing, indexing issues were detected with the URL

    Submitting sitemaps give this error:
    Sitemap could not be read
    General HTTP error

    And in Google’s mobile-friendly test, the website gets the error:
    Page cannot be reached
    This could be because the page is unavailable or blocked by robots.txt

    I’ve checked the robots.txt file and I can’t see anything wrong with it, and the website gets indexed by Bing just fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?
