Google Search console sitemap problem

    Hi,

    The number of pages on my site grew from around 5000 a view months ago, to now over 16.000.

    After each pages import, I submitted my sitemap to googel search console (a few dayslater ). I always get the Status successful, but since May now, the total number of pages recognized, always remained the same at 8.051. Even though, the correct sitemap is in google.

    @andyk71, this kind of issue is common and we’re working on a solution to resolve this more easily for everyone.

    Are you seeing errors in google search console? If not, have you used the inspector to see which pages are not in the index?

    Hi, no, there are no errors visible. Which inspector do you mean?

    The problem is not really if the pages are indexed or not. The problem in the first place is, that google does not seem to recognize all the pages from the sitemap, even though all the pages seem to be in the sitemap.

    What do you mean by “recognize”?

    what I described above. All the pages are in the sitmap, but in google under “recognized pages” there it shows always a little over 8000 and not the almost 18000 that are actually there now.

    Right. Unfortunately, this is not a sitemap problem. Have you submitted any of the pages that are not being indexed manually?

    This does appear to be a crawl budget issue. We’re working on some tools to help with this kind of challenge, as it’s rampant and unaddressed (many people don’t understand that they are affected by this issue because you can follow all best practices and still have this challenge).
