Google sheets default Stored Value
-
After the latest update, Google sheet output no longer defaults to Option Values but instead goes by what is set as the Default Stored Value in settings. For someone like me that uses Google Sheets automations to run their business, I need Option values to output to sheets, but option labels to output in email notifications. This was always possible until today when I updated to 1.53.

Hi @natewolf7 ,
I hope you’re doing well.
There were many fixes in the 1.53 version of Forminator, and that’s the actual normal behavior; it should use the default setting when sending the submission to the database or any other integration.
Doing what you want to achieve might require custom development, and this will be outside the scope of support we can provide. For that, you’ll need to hire a developer to provide the required custom code for you. WordPress provides a jobs directory here https://jobs.wordpress.net/, if you need further advice about it, feel free to email

Best Regards,
Williams ValerioNate, if I’m understanding correctly, we’re with you!
For years, we could use a drop-down for a store location for customer feedback. We’ve always used “Option 1” for customer facing things like emails and “one” for our Google spreadsheets and the dashboards we build off of them. For example, if there was a store in Red Rocks, they would choose Red Rocks and we’d pass redrocks through to the Sheet. After this last update update, we get “Option 1” on the email and entered in the sheet.
That is not “normal behavior” if it hasn’t been that way for years. It may have been the intended behavior and could be an option presented, but if customers are complaining about their workflows being changed without warning, you may want to rethink which updates you’re pushing. If customers want the “pretty” version in both channels, they could use the Option 2/Option 2 example below.
Hi @zackmathis,
I hope this message finds you well.
As mentioned earlier, the submission process is designed to rely on the default setting when sending data to the database or any connected integration, and this is how it is expected to function. Based on feedback we received from members, we implemented a fix in the recent update to address this and keep everything aligned.
However, I am bringing your feedback to the notice of the Forminator team. We’ll update you here if it’s possible to suggest a workaround.
Best Regards,
Nebu JohnHi @zackmathis ,
We got a further update from our team and will be improving the plugins workflow in the next update, which will also help support a filter/hook that lets users override the stored value.
We do understand and recognize your use case and will ensure such instances are covered in future iterations. Sorry for any inconvenience due to this.
Regards,
Nithin@zackmathis yes totally agree. I would not have updated to the latest version of forminator if I knew it was going to break my sheets automations. To the WPMU Devs here, my use case is as a class registration form. The option label shows a long class time (ex: Mondays & Wednesdays from 10:30am-11:00am Eastern Time with Mr. Smith) while the option value sent to my sheet is a class code that powers lots of automations that we use (ex: MW1030Smith). We use these codes for things like keeping our registration numbers up to date and so that our customers know which class times are full and which still have spots. Without this automation in place, I am now having to go in and manually update each registration with the correct code as it comes in. I hope to see an option where everything “Customer Facing” can be a label while we can continue using the values for everything else very soon.

Hello @natewolf7 ,
I hope you are doing well, and thank you for the details.
I have forwarded your message to our team. As mentioned in our previous reply, our developers are planning to add a filter/hook that will allow users to override the stored value.
However, we do not have an estimated timeframe for its release at this time.Kind Regards,
Fida Al HasanHello @natewolf7
Thank you for the suggestion! I believe this could bring good benefits to the plugin and forwarded this thread as a feature request to our developers, we can’t give any estimated time or guarantee it is going to be implemented but I hope we can consider it in a future version.
I also suggest subscribing to our roadmap and receiving updates about our products https://wpmudev.com/roadmap.
That said, this was already forwarded to our developers and I am marking this thread as resolved, but if you have any additional questions feel free to let us know.
Best Regards,
