This plugin is awesome as well as the documentation. I was able to quickly set up PayPal and Google Sheets integrations.

With respect to the Sheets integration, is there any way to set the order the fields appear in as columns in the sheet, either when designing the form, or after the sheet is created? For example, if after publication, I add a new field and place it in the middle of the form, it appears in Sheets as the right most column. But because of its location in the form, I’d like it to be inserted into the Sheet among the fields it was placed with in the form.

What is the behavior of Forminator when adding the next row of data if after the new field is added to the Sheet as a rightmost column I were to cut/insert that column where I want it to appear in the Sheet before that row is added? Does it look at the first row for the proper field name and drop the data there?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi @whistlepigsoftworks

I hope you are doing well today.

I pinged our Forminator Team is there anything we can improve in that matter in future updates. At the moment new field will be always in the last column. We will post an update here as soon as more information is available.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi again

I have confirmation from our Forminator Team that there are no plans to update this behavior. It was done intentionally to prevent mixing already saved data with new ones. For example: if the second field was a phone and then the Name field was added before the phone – users complained that in the old Phone column, it started to add names. That’s why we fixed that to add new fields to the end for already connected forms.
Also, modifying the Google Sheet can cause additional problems for integrations based on this GSheet data.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris
