Every time I open Google Site Kit I get an error showing: Data error in Analytics The response is not a valid JSON response.

In the Console I then see a number of errors:

(2 times) Google Site Kit API Error method:GET datapoint:report type:modules identifier:analytics error:”The response is not a valid JSON response.”

    and

Google Site Kit API Error method:GET datapoint:searchanalytics type:modules identifier:search-console error:”The response is not a valid JSON response.”

What is going wrong? And more importantly, how do I fix this?
I’d love to hear, because this data is incredibly important to us as a startup!

    Hi @dennisdroweb,

Thanks for reaching out. Certainly we understand your data is important to you as a startup. As this specific error is a generic WordPress error, which may appear else outside the Site Kit dashboard, please share the following and we can investigate this further:

    • Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    • Have you been able to view the Site Kit dashboard successfully previously?
    • Do you see any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs from your Site Health information requested above? Such errors may include REST endpoint references.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    I filled out the form.

The Site Kit hasn’t worked on this domain yet, but no idea why not.

Many thanks for sharing your Site Health information @dennisdroweb. From reviewing the details and checking your site I don’t see anything obvious causing this error. So we can determine more on this, please share the following:

    1. Do you see any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs from your Site Health information (which you already shared)? This helps indicate a problem with your WordPress REST api which Site Kit depends on.
    2. When checking the Site Kit dashboard from a Chrome browser incognito window does the same occur? This can help indicate a browser related block.

Once we have the above we can propose some troubleshooting suggestions. If the same error does appear using an incognito window we can troubleshoot the plugins you have active using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
