Hi @websitetasarim,
Thanks for reaching out, and sharing the troubleshooting checks you’ve performed. So we can determine the cause and ensure you’re able to complete setup please share the following information:
- A screenshot of this error, along with any console errors that appear on the same page. You can use a service such as Snippyly, Imgur or Jumpshare to share a screenshot
- At what point during setup does this error occur (ie. After clicking on the sign in with Google button)?
- What is your current location? I ask as I’m aware that AMP, which is used during the setup process is restricted in some regions.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
I solved the problem as follows. I broke the link by clicking on the gmail link in the top right of Google site kit and reconnected without any problems.
Good to know that disconnecting your Google account from the plugin and connecting once more allowed you to complete setup. While I can’t be sure what was the cause if you happen to encounter the same or any new error or notice feel free to get in touch.
I get this exact same error. I have set up the property in my Google account (just as I have for other sites), installed Google Site Kit plugin in the website, I see:
Congratulations, the Site Kit plugin is now activated. I click Start Setup, and it brings me to the following message: Connect your Google account to Site Kit – Site Kit has already been configured by another admin of this site. To use Site Kit as well, sign in with your Google account which has access to Google services for this site (e.g. Google Analytics). Once you complete the 3 setup steps, you’ll see stats from all activated Google products.
When I click to Sign In with Google, I get the following message: The request to the authentication proxy has failed. Please, try again later.
I have deleted the property and recreated it in my Google account. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin. I have deactivated every other plugin. I have tried another browser. I cannot get past this message. The fix mentioned in the thread above does not make sense to me, I don’t see a Gmail link in the top right corner of Google Site Kit. Please advise.
@netteworx Sorry to hear you’ve been having troubleshooting connecting the plugin. So we can determine more on this, specific to your own environment please open a new support topic and after doing so share your Site Health information.

This was in relation to the Google account icon on the top right of your Site Kit dashboard. It only appears once the plugin is connected, see below:

I’ll keep an eye out for your support topic and communicate from there.
